TCA in CAD
High quality tooth contact visualization can be done in CAD with help of the Excel tooth generating programs. Generate the enveloping surface by entering "0" for profile and lead modification. Generate the real surface by entering non zero values for profile and lead crowning. The overlap enveloping with the real surface to get tooth contact. Examples below are rendered on NX10.

3d Contact Pattern Modeling in CAD
3d CAD software and Excel 3d tooth generating software is required. The key idea of this method is to generate the real tooth surface and the enveloping tooth surface. The use CAD tools to find the intersection between the two surfaces generated by Excel VBA. This method does not require special TCA program.
